Marion Neiman

Marion has extensive experience in writing and editing proposals and a wide range of scientific, technical and general material for print publication and the internet.

As an employee of Lansdowne Technologies Inc., and its sister organization, FirstMark Technologies Ltd., Marion acted in a consulting role for the Space Science Program of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) for more than twelve years in Communications Management and Conference & Event Planning.
Communications Management – Marion managed a wide variety of communications activities, including assuming on a contract basis the position of Space Science Manager of Communications. This involved the development and implementation of communications plans and budgets and liaison with CSA staff, principal investigators, international science teams, NASA Public Affairs representatives, and journalists. She was involved in the conceptualization of the first Space Science Program web site in 1996, managed its development and implementation, and served as webmaster.
Throughout her tenure with the Space Science Program, Marion wrote and edited a wide variety of text-based products including brochures, internal and external newsletters, project and program backgrounders, ministerial briefing notes, media advisories, press releases, proposals, reports, and other material for scientific audiences, the media, school children, the general public and the global audience via the internet.

Conference and Event Planning – Marion managed the broad range of logistical requirements involved in planning many large international scientific conferences, international science team working groups, strategic planning workshops, advisory committee meetings, press conferences, and public relations events. She wrote proposals and reports, announcements and updates, on-site programs and materials. She also designed and developed conference web sites for the reference of delegates, exhibitors, sponsors, and the international public. Finally, Marion coordinated the peer review process for the submitted manuscripts, and the eventual publication and distribution of the conference proceedings; this also included editing manuscripts and writing introductory articles and other corollary input.

Since 2005, Marion has continued to contribute on an Associate basis to numerous Lansdowne projects, particularly in the area of proposal management, as Writer and Editor.

Marion also is a Co-owner of Stephen Neiman & Associates Inc., an Ottawa-based training company that specializes in Diversity, Cross-Cultural, and Human Rights programs. As a Director of the company, Ms. Neiman leads and coordinates communications and marketing activity, including writing and editing proposals, brochures, the corporate web site and other advertising material; manages corporate finance and contract administration; and serves as their Company Security Officer (CSO).
